In this episode of Frankly Speaking, I have a great conversation with Sarah Glenn Jackson, a recently married Texas Tech graduate who for six months has been the assistant superintendent at Plantation Golf Club in Frisco, Texas.
I first became aware of Sarah via Brian Cloud’s GCSAA blog and immediately knew her experiences as a female assistant in a vastly male industry would make for good conversation. She didn’t disappoint!

Great interview Frank, I had a couple young lady interns over the years when I was a superintendent. Their attention to detail and gentleness in handling mowing equipment was such I would have employed an entire staff of women had we gotten enough applicants to do so. In supervisory positions they did just fine with my mostly Hispanic staff of me. In fact when one young lady was slinging 50lb fertilizer bags with them at an equal pace it made all the boys work a little harder to not get shown up by a gal! In other words don’t hesitate to put women on the staff, sometimes the outcome may be surprising.
